Training Syllabus

We offer a comprehensive 4-day training course that covers the essential colour grading tasks in Davinci Resolve. Additionally, we are able to provide custom training sessions designed and tailored specifically to meet your individual requirements and professional goals.

Day 1

Grading Preparation

  • Colour management and Monitoring.

  • Setting up a project.

  • Working with databases.

  • UI overview

  • Building a Node tree / order of operations.

  • Importing timelines from other Non Linear Editing systems.

  • Conforming.

Day 2

Primary Colour Grading

  • Working with groups.

  • Balancing and Normalising.

  • HDR wheels.

  • Log Wheels.

  • Working with problem footage.

  • Serial Nodes, parallel, and Layer nodes.

  • Using the scopes.

  • Using Curves.

Day 3

Secondary Colour Grading

  • Using the Hue vs curves.

  • The colour slice tool.

  • Using the colour warper.

  • Using Qualifiers.

  • Power windows and tracking.

  • Blurring and sharpening.

  • Magic Mask

  • Depth map.

Day 4

Finishing

  • Shot Matching techniques.

  • Using split screen and stills.

  • Creating a look at timeline level.

  • Creating a showLUT.

  • Print film emulation.

  • Round-tripping

  • Delivering for broadcast, web and streaming platforms.

Teaching Sample

When teaching colour grading its important to not only explain the technical processes available to us in Davinci Resolve, but also the reasons for using a particular tool and their theoretical basis.
